Welcome to this gathering place for people who love to create floral designs for flower shows!
- Find a calendar here with information about flower shows being held allover the world. Send us your own show dates and details.
- Learn about the many different types of flower shows – who sponsors them, who can enter, and how to organize one.
- Discover how designing for flower shows is very different from creating arrangements for the home or for a wedding.
- Hear from the experts how they interpret existing art or portray an idea or concept in the creation of new floral works of art (entries).
- Study visual literacy – meaning – in floral design to communicate your intended message to viewers by using specific techniques, methods and materials.
- Find out how to condition fresh flowers for show and which ones keep best with little or no water.
- Review the elements and principles of design and learn how to use them to create more successful interpretations.
- Share photos of your flower show entries and tell why you think they deserved those coveted “WOWs”, so others can enjoy and learn from them, too.
- Learn how professional artists and designers critique each other’s work, and why it’s important to welcome new creative thoughts and ideas.
- See lists of recommended books, magazines and workshops with reviews. Comment on which are your personal favorites and why.
- Recycle your unique “second hand rose” flower show paraphernalia and find treasures here for your next design project.
Think of FlowerShowandTell.com as an after-the-flower-show cafe’, where you can enjoy meeting enthusiastic, light-hearted and creative kindred spirits to chat about what you saw and learned over a steamy latte.
Sincerely,
Sonja
Speaking of steamy, please enjoy a little “Show and Tell” by Al Wilson … o o o h, don’t you just love it ?! … I swoon every time I see and hear this!
Song was recorded for the 1973 album “Weighing In” and hit #1 that same year.
“Show and Tell” was Al Wilson’s only #1 hit. Sadly, he passed away in April 2008.
